Reflections on Concur’s Perfect Trip DevCon

It was tripchi’s pleasure to have participated, and pitched, in the inaugural Concur PerfectTrip DevCom 2013.

It was not only a great networking opportunity, but also a great learning opportunity. I learned about many of the intricacies of the Concur API, so that when we’re ready to apply for the App Store, there won’t be any “gotchas.” I also met many of the Concur dev support team, so that I now know who to go to for help in case I have questions.

We also got to meet some great folks, including the entire Concur team, and the other pitch presenters.

Congrats to the winners of the pitch competition:

Morgan from DailyDollar

Jesse from TripLingo

Max from Alminder’s Mynd Calendar

Kyle from Flights with Friends

Ben from Red Ride

Dan from MileIQ

You can also read a recap in the latest Concur newsletter, and here’s an excerpt with a tripchi shout-out:

tripchi in the concur newsletterOf course tripchi gave it our best attempt, and you can even see us wowing the judges, Rich Barton, Founder of Expedia and Zillow, and Partner at Benchmark Capital, Chris Hemmeter, Managing Director of Thayer Ventures, and John Torrey, EVP of Corporate Strategy at Concur – all eyes on us as we vision out Airports 2.0.

Here is another one, showing tripchi dominating Q&A like it was her job (that day, it was!):

And you can’t forget this live action shot – of course it’s blurry because we’re moving so fast through our rapid-fire pitch – but hey, thanks for the shout-out Steve Singh:

Some other highlights from social media include a joke about Government-as-a-Service, or GaaS:

What will they think of next?

Finally, we’ll exit this post with one random thought from Boston’s own Gillian Morris, from TripCommon (by the way, they just recently launched Hitlist which is awesome and you should download it!), who tripchi also had the good fortune of running in to at the DevCon unexpectedly. She tweets about how a larger percentage than we would ever think of mobile downloads on corporate trips are around adult content. All the more reason for the app I’ve previously pitched around “safe” strip clubs and bordellos….but I’ll leave that for another day, another company.

Stay tuned for how we do at the Duke Global Entrepreneurship Network (DukeGEN) Angel pitch in NYC coming up….
