This week we’ll be covering October Airport Restaurant Month returning to an airport near you. Last week we wrote about the DEN Oktoberfest beer tent coming back to the airport, and this week’s October Airport Restaurant Month blog extends the foodie theme one step further. This year’s October Airport Restaurant Month will also be at DEN, in case you’re looking for another #layovertip after you check out the beer tent. You can follow the conversation on Twitter through the hashtag #AirportRestaurantMonth, and participate in person October 1 – 31 this year.
Like last year, and the five previous years, HMS Host is the sponsor and has created a spiffy website where a traveler can select his or her airport and see the October Airport Restaurant Month restaurant participants and menu selections. You can see all the offering airport restaurant in a map or list view, or dig in to a specific airport.
For example, if you’re interested in seeing what DEN offers, you can check out this HMS Host link on their October Airport Restaurant Month website. The two dining options are:
- Denver Chophouse
- Rock Bottom Restaurant & Brewery
The fare this time around features not only a set food menu, but recommended wine pairings.
HMSHost will generously donate $1 of each dish sold to the HMSHost Foundation. The foundation’s mission is to fight poverty with food, shelter, education and workforce development opportunities by directing its charitable investments to organizations that are creating stronger, viable communities.
New this year, and helping the time crunch on the busy traveler, a single-plated Chef’s Tasting Menu has been designed. Here’s what’s on tap:
-
Flatbreads such as the Grilled Chicken & Apple or the Roasted Butternut Squash served with an apple pecan salad featuring baby kale, cranberries, apples, toasted pecans, feta, and honey maple dressing.
- Sandwiches such as the Short Rib Grilled Cheese or the Shrimp Roll served with seasoned sweet potato fries, pickled vegetables, and an apple pecan salad.
- Premium beef burgers such as the Bacon Spinach Stack or the BBQ Short Rib Stack served with seasoned sweet potato fries, pickled vegetables, and an apple pecan salad.
- Entrées such as the Pan Roasted Salmon or the Rosemary Skewered Shrimp served with an apple pecan salad, roasted Brussels sprouts & butternut squash, and the chef’s daily featured potato.
At DEN’s two October Airport Restaurant Month venues, the links to the menus are here for Denver Chophouse and here for Rock Bottom. As always give us a tweet if you like what you eat, and use our hashtag #layovertip and HMSHost’s #AirportRestaurantMonth hashtag as well.
